A tour of downtown Lindsay

With our Ravines of Lindsay location in the works, we explored the downtown area to learn more about some of the popular and well-known spots around downtown Lindsay.

Academy Theatre

Built in 1892, the Academy Theatre was once known as the most technically perfect theatre in Canada. The early 1900’s saw the Academy host vaudeville acts like The Marx Brothers until 1918 when silent movies began to play. 1923 saw the introduction of talking films with the original projectors on display at the Highlands Cinemas in Kinmount. The Academy Theatre for Performing Arts, as it is known today, is a busy cultural centre that still presents concerts, community productions and provides a venue for local schools and organizations.
